The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Lakhimpur, Assam has itself proposed some specific visions for overall development of school education in Elementary and Secondary Education of the District. The main institutional focus areas of DIET, Lakhimpur, Azad are –

  1. Two years El.Ed. Course Pre-service Training, LP-50, UP-50 Total-100 continuously.
  2. Two years B.Ed. Course started from July,2015 with intake of 50. Recognised by NCTE, Bhubaneswar and affiliated by Dibrugarh University, Assam.
  3. Regular In-service teacher training and special attention will be paid to the 3570 Nos. Secondary un-trained teachers and 4094 Nos. Elementary teachers of the district.
  4. DIET, Lakhimpur, Azad has other special focus areas for conducting 2 years D.El.Ed. Course on distance mood to the newly appointed TET teachers of the District under K.K.Handique State Open University.
  5. DIET, Lakhimpur has effort to recognize itself by establishing formal linkage with different centers of  Teacher Education like B.Ed. College, RMSA, SSA, ICDS, (for its scheme of Anganawadi Centers dealing with pre-school children), IASC and CTE of other district, university departments, ELTI and SCERT of Assam.

However, it is hoped that DIET, Lakhimpur will run an Educational Resource

Centre having with different educational Data and profile of the district. For this purpose, DIET  has proposed ICT facilities Centre at DIET and six other ITC centre with facilities has proposed for six Educational Block of Lakhimpur District for regular interact, digital library, labs for maths, science language, social science, geography and psychology for making available to the teachers, teacher educators and the district education planners.

  1. DIET, Lakhimpur has proposed some innovative, new ideas like Mobile Lab. Van, Floating school, ICT facilities, in BRC/ Education Block, Botanical garden, Museum, Ananda Pathsala Bhavan as play house for Anganawadi workers and ECCE educators, Differently Abled Bhavan for CWSN etc. By promoting these innovations in the field of Education, hoped to be developed quality education.
  2. DIET, Lakhimpur, Azad has the EDUSAT facility under SIRD, Assam.

However, it is worth mentionable that one Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) as per MHRD Guide line has been constituted vide Govt. notification No.  PMA.332/2012/328, dated Dispur, the 24th July, 2012, to advise, guide and review the Institutes Plan, Programme and Activities of the DIET, Lakhimpur, Azad.
